"The key to a successful photoshoot is always in the prep."
I'm so lucky to have friends in the industry who pounded this into my head before our first photoshoot for the website. I've done plenty of photoshoots and videos for other companies, but it's a different animal when you are responsible for planning the entire day yourself. It was a lot of pressure and stress, but I couldn't have asked for a better turn out! Now let's dive into the real behind the scenes look at a Fashion Photoshoot!
I'm one of those people who believes the timing is always perfectly perfect so when we had a few bumps in the rode (from scheduling to locking down models and the weather) I wasn't sure how the whole shoot was going to go.
First, I knew I needed a photographer, 2-3 models, and of course the clothes. Thankfully a friend of mine introduced me to a wonderful photographer who specialized in lifestyle shoots; exactly what I wanted! After meeting with the photographer, everything started falling into place. I finally found 2 female models that would be perfect for the look I was going for and my male client said he would model as well. Things were looking up! I already had the merchandise for the female models at this point, so the only one left was the male model. Our schedules were so insane that we weren't able to meet until the DAY BEFORE the shoot. You know you are on the right path when things fall into place the way they did for us that day. We found every look all in one trip! It was incredible!
The Day Before
After finalizing all of the looks for the shoot, I laid out which looks should be shot together and what location would make the most sense. Thank God my friend stayed with me that night to walk me through all of this because I would have been a mess the next day trying to do it on the spot. I also had to figure out a way the girls would change on the go. To save a heck of a lot of time, I found a pop up changing tent, which ending up being the highlight of the day. All of us trying to open and close this tent on the streets of NYC was a sight to say the least. Check out this funny behind the scenes video:
The Day Of
We started at 8am once everyone was dressed and ready, we set out to the street to start shooting! My neighborhood was literally the perfect location for the shoot. We walked over to the East River and found some amazing places to shoot along the way.

The Photoshoot Continued
Since we prepped everything the night before, the day started off great! Once we got into a groove the shots went off without a hitch. We already discussed the shots we needed to capture, which outfits needed to be shot together, and set a shot list to make things go as smooth as possible.
